The “first generation” Pontiac Firebirds were produced at the Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant (V.I.N. code U, date plate code LOR) in 1967-69; the Norwood, Ohio, assembly plant (V.I.N. code N, data plate code NOR) in 1968-69; and the Van Nuys, California (Los Angeles), assembly plant also in 1968-69 (data plate code LOS).
