Firebird – VIN Decoding

January 2, 2010 VIN Decoding

The Pontiac Firebird was introduced to the market in 1967. It happens to be the only year where the VIN plate was a stainless steel plate riveted to the door jamb. All subsequent years till the Firebird was pulled off the Pontiac production line had their VIN plate located on the dash panel in front of the driver and in full view through the windshield.

The articles references below contain a detailed explanation of how to understand the VIN plate information. This information can be extremely useful when buying a project vehicle or when restoring a Firebird as they may help you understand the vehicle you are dealing with.
